What is West Virginia GEAR UP?

WV GEAR UP is a federally funded, six-year program aimed at Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs. GEAR UP provides rigorous educational services to help students plan, apply and pay for education and training beyond high school. The program serves schools within ten counties.

2011-12 Annual Survey is Now Open!

All parents of 10th grade students and 10th, 11th and 12th grade students in GEAR UP schools are invited to participate in the annual survey from November 1, 2011 through February 1, 2012. Click here to take the survey and share your experiences with WV GEAR UP.

2012 WV GEAR UP Incentive Award

Need cash for college? If you're a 12th grade GEAR UP student, you're probably eligible to receive the GEAR UP Incentive Award. The Incentive Award can help you pay for your first year of college. You must submit an application and complete a FAFSA by April 16th - click here for details!

2012 GEAR UP U! Summer Academy

June 27-30 at Glenville State College

GEAR UP U! 2012 will be held June 27 through 30 on the campus of Glenville State College. GEAR UP U! is an annual summer academy for WV GEAR UP students in the class of 2013 and 2014.* For GUU! details, click here.

2011-12 HEROs Registration is Now Open!

Students in WV GEAR UP schools can be HEROs (Higher Education Readiness Officers). HEROs help their school, their classmates and their community to dream big and get ready for college.They rally their communities to help everyone have a chance to succeed. Click here to go to the HEROs news page.
